Requesting a Guest Wireless Account

A guest to BCIT may request access to the BCIT wireless network only with approval from a BCIT sponsor. A sponsor can be any BCIT staff or faculty member who has an @bcit.ca email address.

The account name will be the guest’s email address, and the password will be provided upon completion of the online registration form. The account will only be available to the guest for a period of one week.

The process involves the following four steps

Step 1: Connect to the BCIT_Guest network

The first step is to connect to the wireless network. These instructions are based on Windows 11, so the steps may vary depending on your device.

  1. Select the Network, Sound, or Battery icons (on the taskbar to open quick settings).



  2. On the Wi-Fi quick setting, select Manage Wi-Fi connections (›)



  3. Select the BCIT_Guest Wi-Fi network then click Connect.

Step 2: Complete the online registration

Now that you are connected, you can apply for a Guest account online with your BCIT sponsor to have full access to the Internet.

  1. In the Wi-Fi menu, click Open browser and connect or go to www.bcit.ca/wifi



  2. Select Click Here next to Need a guest wireless account?



  3. On the “Visitor Registration” page, fill out all required fields marked with an asterisk (*), including the Sponsor’s BCIT Email Address, Your Name, Your Email Address, Security Code, and accept the terms of use.

  4. Click Register.



  5. After registering, a “Visitor Registration Receipt” will appear with your account details. Your account will remain disabled and the Log In button will be greyed out until the sponsor confirms the guest account. Make sure to record your password for later use.

Step 3: Sponsor confirmation

Once you submit your registration, your BCIT sponsor will receive an email notification like the one shown below. The next steps must be completed by the sponsor.

  1. In the email, the sponsor should select Click Here to review the Guest Wi-Fi account request.



  2. This will open a web page where the sponsor can choose to Confirm or Reject the request.

Step 4: Login and Connect

The registration receipt page refreshes every 30 seconds. After the sponsor approves your request, the Log In button will become available on the next refresh. Click it to connect to the network. The Guest will also receive an email with their Guest Account details, including your username and password.



If the guest cannot stay on the “Visitor Registration Receipt” page until the sponsor confirms the registration, they can connect to the BCIT_Guest network, then open a browser and visit www.bcit.ca/wifi to sign in using their guest email address and password.

By default, the account expires after one week. To extend it, the sponsor must contact the IT Services Desk. The connection will automatically log out after 8 hours of inactivity.

To reconnect, simply join the BCIT_Guest network, open a browser, and visit www.bcit.ca/wifi to sign in with the guest email and password.
